Questions people ask before paying
The awkward ones, answered
What counts as an active student?
A student currently enrolled and attending. Graduated, withdrawn and prospective students stay in the system and stay accessible, but you don’t get billed for them.
Do you take a cut of student tuition payments?
No. Students pay your school through your own Stripe account, and Udooku takes nothing out of it. The only deduction is Stripe’s own processing fee, and that goes to Stripe.
What happens to our records if we cancel?
You can export everything at any time, including while you’re cancelling. After cancellation the data sticks around for 90 days so you can come back or finish exporting, then it’s permanently deleted. Access to your own student records is never withheld over billing.
Is there a contract or a minimum term?
No. It’s monthly, and you can cancel from inside the software without emailing anybody.
Does Udooku track clock hours toward the state licensing requirement?
Yes, on every plan. Each cohort session carries its scheduled minutes, and every attendance code either credits those minutes, credits the actual minutes the instructor recorded, or credits nothing. The student’s record shows hours earned against the program’s requirement, with hours credited from a prior school kept separately, and the attendance grid carries a running total per student. On the Compliance plan the school prints a numbered hours certification from that record, carrying the figures the Board’s Proof of Training form (Form F-BBC-05) asks the school for: the dates training started and finished, hours at this school, hours from other schools and the total. The form itself is the Board’s, and the student and the school both sign it. What is not there yet is a time clock: hours come from the attendance the instructor marks, not from students punching in.
Udooku is one person. What happens to our records if you stop working on it?
A fair thing to ask, and the honest answer is that you should never be relying on my goodwill to reach your own records. You can export them at any time in standard formats: the roster exports to CSV on any plan, and the owner can request a full archive of the whole record set on any plan. That export is never gated behind a payment, and it covers archived and graduated students, not just active ones. If Udooku stopped tomorrow you would still be holding your data in a form another system can read.
Can we try it before paying?
Yes, and you don’t need to give an email address to do it. The live demo is the full software with a made-up school in it. To see your own students in there instead, send a CSV.
